|The 1st Annual
Stacy Daniel Smith
Student-Athlete Basketball Camp
The Stacy D. Smith Memorial Basketball Camp is an annual camp held in
honor of Stacy Daniel Smith who left us suddenly in October of 2007. The camp
has been founded upon the principles Stacy held near and dear to his heart
and the foundation that allowed him to practice his beliefs. Stacy very much
believed in self improvement and outreach, as he firmly believed in making
himself better each day and trying to do something to help someone else. His
faith, love and admiration of his family and friends, school life, and the game of
basketball allowed Stacy to become known by many and loved by all who
experienced his charm. The legacy Stacy leaves behind is one that has the
opportunity of molding and shaping the lives of many scholars, athletes, and
people of all races, classes, and backgrounds.
The Stacy D. Smith Memorial Basketball Camp aims to improve the skill level of
aspiring basketball players, while enriching their thought process practiced in all
walks of life. The camp will help by building the basketball fundamentals of
participants through a variety of ways including lectures, drills, and in-game
coaching. Campers will also have various guest lectures and activities relating
to school life, race relations, youth violence, and other important topics. This
camp is unique in it's approach as it not only stresses the skills to be used on the
court that help mold a successful basketball player, but the skills and principles
exercised off of the court that improve the quality of life.
Keep Stacy Alive in YOU and YOUR COMMUNITY. Be a difference maker.
